Dr. McMullin obtained his B.Sc. in Honours Physics from McGill University in 1968 and his Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of Rochester in 1975. From 1975 to 1983 he worked as a Research Associate in the area of controlled nuclear fusion at the University of Alberta. In 1983, he was appointed as Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Alberta and in 1987 achieved the rank of Professor. Currently, he is a member of IEEE, SPIE, OSA, Sigma Xi, and is a registered professional engineer in Alberta (APEGGA). Dr. McMullin has been affiliated with the Photonics Group at TRLabs Edmonton since 1987, primarily in the realm of integrated optical devices for telecommunications.
