Analysis and Simulation of UWB PPM System with Single Bit Rake Receiver in Multipath Fading Environment
H. Agus, S. Sethi, R. Pasand, J. Nielsen, R. DaviesWireless 2004 proceedings, Calgary, Alberta, pp. 386-394, July 12-14, 2004
Rake receivers are often used to combat pulse dispersion in multipath fading environment. Conventional Rake receivers utilize analog amplitude channel estimation that requires multibit quantization. In Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) systems, multibit quantization is not practical for low power, inexpensive transceivers due to the high sampling rates, number of Rake fingers, and data processing requirements. In this paper, a UWB system using Pulse Position Modulation (PPM) and Single Bit Rake (SBR) receiver has been analyzed and simulated. Single Bit Rake reciver allows for significant reduction in digital signal processing that minimizes both power consumption and cost.
